Father and Daughter Success
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:15:08 AM »
I have never been a proponent to publishing my hunting trips but this one was special and I wanted to share it with all the other Dads. It's never too late to ask your kids to go on a hunting trip, my daughter is 23 and joined me for the first time this year and it was a total success. The opportunity to be successful hunting was secondary to sharing a lifelong love of hunting with my daughter. We spent 5 days scouting, hunting and camping with a Great Friend and his son. Many memories were made and my daughter is already excited about 2014.

My Dad who was my hunting partner forever, passed away this summer and now the hunting tradition can live on.

Guys, it's never too late to ask your kids to join you, just as our Dads asked us to join them, keep the hunting tradition alive!!!

Great job!!  Welcome to Hunt Wa.  Is your daughter a member here?  If not, she should consider joining and tell us her story of the hunt!!

VERY Sorry for your loss. Good hunting partners are VERY hard to find these days.
I am going Elk Hunting with my Dad this year for the first time in maybe 30 years. I plan to soak in EVERY SECOND of it. He taught me to clean his firearms when I was 4yrs old......I passed my Hunters Ed at 10, (they didn't let me hunt until I was 11 back then (1967). He took me out hunting EVERY year I wanted to go....which was EVERY year.....then our lives got in the way......and we haven't been hunting together since sometime in the early '80s. He's getting up there in age, (70+) and his mobility is very limited. He asked me to go with him this year and I didn't hesitate.
I just lost a friend (best man at my wedding) to cancer just recently and have had mortality on my mind. Hunting Elk with my Dad.....right now.......overrides ANYTHING I have going on in MY life right now.
Short Elk Camp.....whatever he can handle.....2-3 nights...he's gonna sleep under the canopy in his pickup with an airmattress.......I would not miss this for ANYTHING..... :tung:
Now to complete the picture........I need to get one of may daughters, or maybe BOTH of them to come out, and at least TRY hunting. Congrats on your Great Experiences with your daughter.
This is what THIS is all about isn't it?

I'm Feeling It! :fire.:

Congrats to you and the daughter on the hunt. Sometimes they might piss and moan about going out but it's memories you are building. Besides a person can always use the guilt trip of you don't dad out there alone. But by the smiles I can see you had a great time.

That's great! Love the picture. My daughters are 5 and 7 and they both want to go hunting with me now. But I'm thinking that may change when they actually get old enough to hunt and become interested in other things.

Hunt4ever - Great post! love to hear stories like this one, it is truly a sport that can be passed through generations. Bonding moments are to few and far between within busy  schedules, and life gets in the way. Glad to hear you and your daughter committed the time, she will cherish it far more than you will know.
