legal question
« on: November 30, 2013, 07:15:52 AM »
While sea duck hunting yesterday a seal kept swimming around and nosing my decoys.  we thought it was funny but turns out he bit the bottom of half my decoys and I know have a lot of patchwork to do.  In the future what can I legally do to stop a seal from doing it again?

Can't trace pellets....  JK, unfortunately the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 gives these wolves of the sea free reign.

A shot into the water near him may be enough to chase him away for a while, too bad you missed the duck that was there though.   ;)

Do you know any tribal members that can go with you?  As long as they aren't tagged out on seals.

Just wait until they take a duck before you can get to it.   :bash:

Big time federal protection, you know, because they're endangered.

Thanks for the inputs.  I figured there wasn't much I could do.  Maybe I will slap a oar on the water next time and hopefully that scares them a little.

Wrist rocket and marbles or rocks.
You can harass them with non-lethal ammo.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

I'd love to see that regulation.

So these hazing regulations cover private property and fishing. It says nothing about allowing hazing for hunters.  :dunno:

If you can haze for fishing or property issues, you should be able to haze for hunting protection of either your property (decoys), your kill, or your dog.  You loving those seals there Piano?   :chuckle:
