Yes, it is legal to notch your antlerless tag on that animal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just as long as you Cut out and completely
remove the month and day of kill.
Month and day must be completely
removed. A slit is not acceptable.
Securely attached to the carcass in a
visible manner.

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Well, of course.  Is there any other way to properly notch your no antlers deer tag?

But is it legal to harvest? Im confused, i attach my tag to the animal i have killed, but when i go to report it (by jan 31st, or the 10th if you want to be in the incentive drawing) its called a harvest report...
And when you report they ask if i remember right (since i reported 3 months ago)if you harvested a buck, if you click yes they ask how many antler points per side...so  :dunno:

Clearly an antlerless tag is in place to manage the buck to doe ratio, the OP will now have to deal with the daunting task of weighing ETHICS over dinner, way bigger an issue than simply "legal or not".  :chuckle:

So, do you feel you killed that deer or do you feel you harvested that deer?

Killed, definitely killed that deer, gut, skin, cut wrap and consumed also......
Harvest does not mean the same to me at least, as i can harvest a plant but it is not yet dead, some cut plants can be put into water and will continue to survive and become there own plant and the cut one will regrow where it was harvested at...
*
So humm for the sake of argument, what if this deer is in an antler point restriction unit, then it sheds becoming antleress and legal to antlerless tag holders...seems like a conumdrum to kill it at this point...

Interesting thoughts indeed. I wonder if we should tie this thread in with the bigfoot thread as this appears to be some form of shapeshifting....

You would be perfectly LEGAL. However, I do not believe you are meeting the ethical intent of the law if you knowingly target a buck that you knew would have been illegally prior to it shedding its alters. Besides learning a young bucks pattern could help you harvest more and bigger deer in the years to come.  :twocents:

If they only allowed does to be taken, they would say does only, not antlerless. The tag would be called a doe tag. They call it an antlerless hunt which means all deer without legal antlers. This includes buck fawns and apparently bucks who's antlers are less than 3 inches long if the above definition is right, and bucks that have shed their antlers. There is nothing unethical about shooting a buck that meets the legal requirement. In fact it's probably worded "antlerless" to prevent people who shoot an antlerless buck from getting a ticket. This is no more unethical than shooting a doe that carries legal antlers.

So if you saw a doe with antlers would you shoot that?
