Does anyone know if they hunt ducks in Japan?

Absolutely yes.  Here is an example: http://hunting.seesaa.net/article/114509522.html

Japan has a real problem with hunting right now.  The (national) government has spent the entire post-war period restricting the ownership of firearms (handguns are absolutely prohibited, and rifles are very difficult to possess), the result of which the average age of licensed hunters in now above 70!  If I remember correctly, to even apply for a permit to own a rifle one must have hunted safely with a shotgun for at least 10 years--this is really a high hurdle, and most hunters don't even try to apply for the permit (I don't know a single person who owns a rifle there).

The country is literally overrun with deer, and there are very few hunters who have the means (guns) and knowledge to take them.

As a rule, hunting in Japan is limited to shotguns (buckshot for deer or bear).  Small game (including pheasants, ducks) is possible, but not nearly as common as it was a few generations ago.  I know this from personal experience.

But the good news is hunting is making a comeback in Japan.

Now that is very interesting!  Thanks for sharing your story.  I'd frame that band with a picture of your duck and the story of the hunt if it were me.

VERY cool! Thanks for sharing! :)
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Are the Japanese bands aluminum or stainless steel ones?  They seem to remain very bright.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
