New Trail Camera Cover

I started this project last April, after camouflaging my trail cameras for the up coming season.  I wanted a better camouflage, like burnt timber or something for Lake Chelan.   I sent a short description of the idea to Bushnell and got a lot of emails inquiring on the idea.  The next step was to convince my wife about moving forward with a lawyer and obtain a patent.  I'm now patent pending on the idea, which was a lot of work.

 Ive spent too many nights researching molds, plastic material, etc.  I had no formal training and had to DIY it in my garage.  I would of not wanted it any other way.  The current cover only works with Moultrie.  The model is M-80, but need to check my notes.   Liquid Transformation out of Spokane hooked me up on the patterns.  Thank you LT!

I'm have a tough time coming up with the name of the company.  Please responds with positive or negative comments.  The last picture is a negative rubber mold of the Easter Pine Bark.  The color is off, but the texture is spot on.

Looks very nice.  I run a lot of the M-80s.  I've hot glued bark on before from the types of trees I'm hanging them on.  Worked very well.  Your idea is great though.  Cost for one?

Thanks for the comments.  My cost are high for the face plates.  I would say $150ish.  I only have 7 really good prototypes.  Over the weekend I will be emailing a guy at Moultrie about the cameras.  He was interested, but I had some set backs and need to show off the final product.  I'm hoping Moultrie will license this idea and get the face plates out to the public in the $20-30 range.  My cash flow is only so big, so I had to stick to one camera, but I think this would be easy for a big company to produce for all trail cameras.  It's just like a cell phone cover.  I have other ideas on the bear box.  I was thinking of a sleeve type design, which could stretch over the box.

I have a suggestion. Seeing how you typically strap the cam to a tree, the open back ground, stick, leaves on the print would be outta place. Id focus more on different tree barks/colors then your typical camo patterns. Hell even if you went out and did digital photos of tree bark, that company should have no problem transferring your photo over to their computer. And maybe a mat or flat finish.

Thank you for the feed back.  My goal was to have tree bark, but decided to make a few different covers, which could show off other options.  I thought open sage brush camo would be good, but the cover turned out a little green.  Thanks again for the info!

Personally, I'd say if you incorporated this sleek design with a good locking and mounting mechanism, you'd have created the best overall security/cover camo item on the market as far as trail cams go.

Gavin this is awesome glad you are moving forward with this idea! when you get that cover going for the lock boxes I might be the biggest purchaser for my fleet of camera/boxes

Very nice! Our property burned in 2000  and that cover would be great for the trees that are left at our place. The burned bark look as awesome though in the pictures looks a little shiny  but that may just be the picture. A white aspen bark cover would be another great one. I know for us the aspen are growing the fastest of all the regrowth so that will be the next place I will be hanging cams. Keep us posted on what ends up happening with this what a great idea and I am wishing the best for you  .
