Discover Pass price?
« on: April 02, 2014, 08:05:57 AM »
Did WDFW approve the free Discover Pass when you spend over $200 at one time on license fees? I was doing on a little searching on their website last night but didn't get an answer. I am about to purchase my new fish/hunt license. Thanks for any info!

No, I don't think so. It wouldn't be the WDFW that would approve it anyway, it would have to be the legislature.

Haven't heard.  When the last legislative session ended, a lot of bills were left hanging.  That was probably one of them.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I'm 99% sure that I read something on this board by Bigtex where he said the bill did not make it.  I was holding out buying a DP and my hunting licenses because of that Bill, looks like I can buy my stuff now.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

It didn't even get a legislative hearing.

That sucks, by the time I geet licenses, tags, permits, and application fees, the wife and I spend more than double that each year.

The DP is really a tax. To pay it only costs a portion of your soul.

I agree.  I've held off getting a DP, but I think I'll finally give in.  It really feels wrong to go get one too. :(

I hate the Discover Pass.  Between me and my wife we paid $712 last year between the two of us for fishing and hunting  thats damn near as much as I paid in property taxes.  I don't really mind paying my share but that seems excessive.

Edit; Profanity removed. Don't skirt the forum rules, thanks.

Sure, if you don't hunt or recreate in any way on DNR land, then don't buy it. I like having the option of going into Capitol Forest even if I don't hunt there. Also lots of DNR land all across the state I may want to access. Or even camp and hunt on. It seems to me that it's well worth $30 per year. Especially with much of the timber company land around here going to permit only access.

NEVER!  The private timber seen a few of their own and the dnr start charging and figured why not.  So the dnr instigated all this in a way.  I won't buy one.  I refuse!

I hope a lot of people refuse to pay the measly $30. I might have all the state land to myself this hunting season.
