Western archery quality apps

that was my first choice.  My second was the toutle.  The nook I have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than to draw.  And the toutle is like 5% chance.  the toutle is hardly a quality hunt and is harder to draw than the premium tags out east, by a substantial amount.  I chase branch bulls every year.  I went east one year when Naches was open for cows and was in elk every day.  Then hit rimrock for the last few days of early and seen a good amount of elk.  One big six at like ten feet.  The rimrock tag is a one in four chance to draw.  I was tempted to go east and put peaches as my first with a 1-10 odds and then rimrock as my second with 1-4 odds but I figured I couldn't even hit that and would be stuck hunting cows and spikes.  I hunt timber property on the west.  When that goes to access permit I will hunt east every year.  Im sure thousands of hunters will be switching to the east side hunts now that their westside  hunting grounds are pay to play.  The eastside will see a huge increase in permit apps and new hunters to the general season.  This year will probably incraes a ton of permits now that people are aware of the access permit required to hunt their area.  where as last year they might not of known and just got locked out with a westside tag

I bet a lot of people won't  know about St Helens being closed this year until they show up at the gate on opening day.

You guys can put in for nooksack too.  I just looked and archery hunters with that tag had a 54 day split season.  Even I could get it done in 54 days.

Not as easy as you think  I have talked to a few people who went home empty handed ...Besides if you want to just put in for points go ahead and apply but the chances really stink ... they would rather let the Indians kill them  just saying D-Rock ..

It was ok.
I saw a few bulls in the Toutle and missed one good opportunity. Ended up killing a cow in the Skook during the late season.

Noooooo. How many points did each of those applicants have? Average points means not much. Your odds are off. Have Bob33 show you your real odds.

Actually that's pretty close according to the odds that idahohunter posted. His numbers actually show 1 in 3 odds for someone with 4 points.

Although with the access permits being required for most areas here in SW Washington, I think odds for eastside permits will be drastically less than what the numbers show.

I'm not talking about adding more hunts.  Just giving westsiders archers more options.  If westsiders archers could put in out eastit would increase the options by a lot of special permits.  If you still don't understand then I can't help you.  I you understand but don't agree and prefer the seasons the way they are then I respect your opinion but also respecfully dissagree.

I get what you're saying now.  Your original post made it sound like you meant there would be more permits.  It would give everyone more options.  The odds already aren't great for a quality tag though, and that would only make them worse in my opinion.

I agree.  Much harder.  I will draw multi one year hopefully before I burn my points in the toutle.

Toutle used to be a draw you could count on every few years..."point inflation" has really hit hard, hasn't it?

I wish I had the time to really invest in using a multi season tag.  I had a multi season deer tag a couple years ago and also drew a second deer tag.  I got pretty good use out of it that year, but I was stretched pretty thin on vacation afterward and my buddy and I wanted to fill our second tag before we went hunting for bucks cut in to the quality of the hunt.  We spent more time trying to fill our doe tags than we had planned and it cut short the rest of the time off I had.
