Meat buck
Why is it called a meat buck?

Generally because the deer was not shot because of his rack but because the hunter was just hunting for meat.

Opening day Methow buck. Thanks for the help Luke, if you're here, nice to meet you!
NICE ...I take it you got that gun shooting well now ... :chuckle:

Yeah that gun is shooting very well now. My nephew is actually using it this year. This was shot with my 7mag that I have never had a problem grouping with  :)

Whew.  Rough year down here.  This is the biggest buck I saw opening weekend.  Should have held out, but his frame fooled me.  Good to have meat in the freezer though...

Just came to check to see if you added him.  I saw you mention him in another thread.   2014 is in the freezer.  Glad you got your buck.

You guys are slamming the whitetails this year.  Well done!

PathfinderJR still has his tag.  Cross Country is NOT a hunter friendly sport.  >:(  Had a race on opening day out of town.  He hunted Sunday hard (over 9 boot miles, 13 hours) and couldn't make it happen.  Now he has practice every afternoon from 3:30 to 6pm until Saturday.  Saturday practice from 7am to 9am...  He's hanging onto a coveted varsity spot so he can't afford to miss a practice.  No hunting until late Saturday morning...
