Gloves

Ok I'm a gear junkie but I haven't got the gloves down yet. What's everyone running for gloves? I wear mechanix gloves when it's dry and not freezing cold. Looking for a more versatile pair of gloves for bad weather. Kuiu guide gloves? Bow or gun hunting.

 My favorite wool gloves have been discontinued by the manufacturer Wells Lamont, and the ones I have are getting old. Im in the same boat Jack, looking for a good comfortable replacement, that actually keep my hands warm.

I have a thin pair of cabelas gloves made for bow hunting. I wear them in the cold as well, but will put a "hottie" either in the palm or the back of my hand. You'd be surprised how effective that is. My hands usually don't get cold, so rarely need anything thicker, especially when moving.

For wet conditions I like Glacier Gloves.  Sometimes a little clammy, but good grip and dry warm.  They can be kind of tight and hard to remove if you need to make a quick shot, but a few types can have thumb and index fingers snipped off.  They are great for rowing on the icy/snowy rivers.

Outdoor Research, ironsight gloves, light enough to shoot with, add a silk liner if it gets cool. They are not a cold weather glove but work well for me off season as I am moving most of the time. I keep a pair of fleece gloves in the pack for when it gets really cold. The ironsight gloves were plenty warm for me last week in W. Wa when it was cold.

I have been wearing the military surplus green wool gloves for 30 years. They stay warm when wet, I carry a spare pair in my pack, and they're inexpensive. I prefer wool over the newer materials.

I spent the bucks and got the Kuiu gloves since all there stuff is so well made.  Absolute CRAP!!!  Can't believe he put the Kuiu name on those things.

Sitka shooters glove is nice, but they do wear out fast.  Nike golf gloves are great if you don't need a warm glove.  Not sure if you can find Morris-Feel gloves anymore, but they are one of my favorites for moderate cold weather.  I have a pair of Dickie's gloved that are ten years old that are absolutely fantastic.  They don't make them anymore, probably because they lasted like iron and no one needed more than one pair every eight or ten years   Allen shooters gloves are a good investment too.

I usually hunt with a pair of gloves that have Gortex in them. When its not super cold, I like a pair of plain old deer skin gloves without lining.

No luck with the Kuiu of Sitka gloves for me. I continue to run cheap fleece gloves that fit loose when I'm in cold conditions.  Also I've had good luck with wool gloves. This is one of the only items where I don't feel money buys you the best.

with the wool gloves, you can spray them with the camp dry silicone and they usually stay drier longer, especially in snow.

I also am not too impressed with the kuiu gloves and liners, but only when they get wet.  And they get wet easily, when it's dry out, I did like them.  They fit well with the liner, but unlike wool, they don't stay warm when they get wet.  Wool gloves seem to work the best when it's wet out, I like the one's with the removable fingers cover.
