another point would be,if that is in deed a sword it has to be the shortest sword i have ever seen its not even arm length by the pic.  :dunno:

OK I have resisted but that is not a sword swords are not round its round like a skewer probably a sharpened skewer.

Now as for a sword I was hiking up on the Olympic Penn and ran across a guy also hiking he had a sword in his pack same as I had a gun in mine he wasnt even a little creep-o-meter just a young guy out doing his thing.

The skewer guy in the pic sets off all of my alarms and I would stay far away from him.  I listen to my creep-o-meter and so far it has kept me from being raped more than once.

bummer they are tresspassing

Not a problem Baker. This thing is we can't control how people perceive us. So, if we conduct ourselves in a reasonable manner then 99% of the time it will be non issue. So, if and when it does happen it will be very infrequently and simply not an issue.

I disagree we can change perception by actions and attire.  The perceptions might not always be accurate but they are our individual realities, you need to know when to question yourself.  Walking around with a sword is just weird. Things that are weird or different get attention either positive or negative.

Would I call the cops, don't think so.  I would think about getting off the trail and watching my back for a few minutes. When in the woods I carry a 9 for 2 legged threats and spray for 4 leggers.

Hat...I see what you are saying. Still.....we can't. However, we can sure TRY by conducting ourselves in a responsible manner. Minor detail but overall I do agree with what you are saying.

mmm yes and nooo.  If it is someone caught trespassing w/ a sword on trail camera there is no reasonable immediate danger so I believe a 911 call would be unwarranted, however I would still notify the authorities.  If it were a person w/a sword walking around on private property and it is observed in real time I would say that a reasonable person could argue that there is a possibility for immediate danger and a 911 call could be prudent.  No matter how you "slice" it the behavior is suspect to say the least, in real time what would the property owner do?  Verbal challenge and risk possible confrontation where by possibly escalating the situation and forcing a landowner to defend themselves?

except the handle is not wrapped there is zero curve and there is no flat blade  :dunno:.... it looks like those Brazillian bbq skewers used to hold meat over a flame churro something or other, I immediately thought it was a chefs knife sharpener actually with a sharpened point. plain wood handle is unlike any sword I have ever stumbled across.  Its also not a machete because again it would be flat and blade like I have dedicated way more time than I should to this, lol but I love a mystery.  I swear I have seen that guy in some other trail cam pic possibly not on huntwa.

Could it be the angle of the pic makes it so you can't see the side of the blade?  I thought the angle in one pic was looking at the back side of the blade and the other pic was straight on, preventing a view showing the width of the blade.  :dunno:  In any event it is strange.

That would be quite the coincidence to have it edge on in two different pics from two different angles.   :dunno:  I thought from the beginning it looked like a sharpened rod of some type.  Still weird though.
