My Dad sold them a couple a few years ago, just a couple of old ones, nothing special. I think they low balled him

They always low ball you on offers. They say they can only sell a certian rifle for say 500 and then you'll see it for 750. It's very easy to take a rifle or shotgun there and sell it and not have to go through the hassle of a private sale but you won't make as much off the gun. But yes we have sold quite a few guns there but haven't traded any.

Why trade a .300 for a 7? virtually the same thing,if it's the recoil you think your going to get away from by stepping down, think again.I've got a 7mm,it's older n me,it's got some bite,it doesn't bother me,and in fact my buddies 300 and his 338  have felt recoil  that is less than my 7.Most likely for the hosing your going to take trading it in somewhere(Which reads anywhere is going to try and hose you) you may be just as well off to have someone install a brake on it to reduce thump and jump and save some in your pocketbook.

I see what everybody is saying I use to have a 7mm mag and I loved I was 2 inches high at 500 yards but I came in to a pinch point in life so the only thing I had that I can sell the fastest was my 7mm so that's y I was wanting to get another one my dad bought me a 300 mag lever action wood stock it weighs a ton but I always liked my 7mm and I don't use the 300 much which I think last I shot it was in 2008 ever since I bow hunted and muzzleloader I don't have the money to just go buy a 7 since I'm buy another house so was just going to trade my 300 in towards one somewhere

Just for curiosity I took a 308 Remington 788 in there about a year ago, it was cosmetically decent, old but still nice... They offered me $75... Said they would only sell it for about $150.  Funny thing was they had a 308 788 on there used shelf that was pretty much exactly the same quality as mine with a tag for $425.

I sold one to Cabelas..... after I listed it here and got zero interest.

Got next to nothing for it but I accepted the situation and did the deal. Expect to get very little for it from them.

  • How do you measure trying, you do, or you don’t.
Post a pick of the .300, what type is it, how much do you want?

Exactly,
They are very straight forward, they figure out what they will sell the gun for using the Blue Book and will give you 60% of that. Those numbers are set by corporate and all of the stores are supposed to be the same. If you want to do it great, if not, then don't do it.

It's a Winchester 300 win mag dad bought it in 2007 used it following season then went to bow I can't remember the size of scope but it's big and I will post s pic of it as soon as I get my gun safe key out of my storage unit but it's like a fancy wood stock looks way to nice to take in woods but idk what I really want out of maybe when I find a 7mm that catches my eye at least try to get enough for the 7mm or as close as I can to where I don't fork out a lot out of my pocket be nice

I wouldn't trade your gun in at Cabelas. I traded a handgun for another handgun once at a gun dealer many years ago and didn't get a fair trade in value at all, and regret it now. If your 300 is a lever action it must be a Browning BLR. That should be easy enough to sell. Sell it yourself and then buy the 7mm that you want. Or put it up for trade in the classifieds on this site.
