Should've just thrown some Nitto Mud Grappler's on there, this would have been a thread about a mysterious vehicle that tore up some ground.

You know at least the guy left his full name and number.  Ill give him credit for that.

Note should have read, "Gone to get more beer"

:yeah:  "Gone to get more Natural Ice..."

Out of curiosity, was there an empty 30 bomb laying around?  You would have to be drunk to drive down that hill.  Makes my butt pucker looking at that hill.

Jeep is still there. The only way they could possibly drive it down leads to a deer fence. It's not going up without another vehicle coming part way down. Best to just roll it off the cliff..

I have been down to it and it would take one beast of a rig to get up that ridge regardless of having a winch and ground anchor. It took about a half hour to hike back up to the flats at the top and that was moving fairly fast, it is steep and soft up there.

A person could conceivably park at the top and and with 1000' +/-  of cable winch it up.

Going down is not an option unless he can get back up ~50yds and drop off into the gully to the north. Might be able to drop off the south side but it is rockier and steeper there. I think he crossed from USFS into DNR and possibly state land on the ridge so there are jurisdictional boundaries to consider.

The fee to carrier it out of there is probably 100 times more expensive then the ticket he might get for trying to drive it out of there... I've got my money on him trying to sneak it out.
up to a $5000 fine, and if civil charges are filed by forest service, he will be liable for restoration costs.

First off, I do not condone what this jack wagon did, and this is going to   :stirthepot:

BUT

you all sound like a bunch of  :tree1:

Its dirt and sage brush, not a meadow of lushes grass being fed on, or the middle of the feed area for deer wintering deer in 2 feet of snow.

Get that thing up that ridge, and have the dumb arse take a shovel, some seeds and take care of the dirt he disturbed.

Rent a dozer and get ot out of there....jeesh......

And you gusy would be suprised what a capable jeep can get through or up  :camp:

I agree with you....damage is done.  Rent a dozer and drag it up the hill.  Fine the living piss out of the guy and make him rehab the area.  Dumb that it is still sitting there.

I don't agree with the sage brush comment....I love my sagebrush.

I also feel he shouldn't be required to have it hauled out with a helicopter. That's just a little too extreme and way too costly. The guy made a dumb mistake. Let him do whatever it takes to get it out of there, and then give him the appropriate fines and punishment, whatever that may be.

Agree!  Nobody will notice a few more ruts after spring.

So if there's Jeep tracks all over the place tearing up winter range and running wintering deer all over the place, that's ok?  In an area like that, with constant dirtbike/jeep/snowmachine traffic harrassing the animals...what would you think?

I do think the helicopter thing is a little on the heavy side, but wow.

At no point did I say I condone what he did or encourage off road travel in my post, so where did you come up with that  :dunno:

I don't think you condoned it either, but you sure made it sound like you thought it was not that big of a deal.
You assumed you were going to stir the pot, and you did.
I'm not what I would call a tree hugger. The last thing the Entiat needs to go along with natives hunting and irresponsible shed hunters runni9ng up and down every mountain out there harrassing the deer is a stinkin Jeep bombing around all over hell and back. He did that...it's a fact.
