I'm doing my best to turn gasoline into bears.  So far, just turning it into warmer winters for our area.

Because they are out hunting, not spending time in the lounge. :chuckle:

We got out last night and started off crappy.  Some ahole stole my camera.  I had it 12ft up a tree.  Looks like they used a axe and cut the strap.  *censored*s!  Either a PUD guy, timber guy, another permit holder, or someone that walked it quite a ways.  Either way it sucks.  $149 down the drain.  First one stolen so it really chaps my arss!

Oh well....moving on.  We set up in a clear cut and called for about an hour with nothing.  Just not in the right spot.   What are all your thoughts on areas to set up?  Are open clear cuts ok, or should we be more in the timber?

"I love my country, I love my guns, I love my family,
I love the way it is now and anybody that tries to change it has to come through me.
That should be all of our attitudes.
Cause this is America and a country boy is good enough for me son..."

I think I would try calling on a grassy road that has clearcuts nearby and thicker junk around it.  The bears don't have a ton of reason to be in the clear cuts right now, and if they are you'd be able to see them when you show up.  I think if it were me I'd check the clear cuts, verify no bears, find a grassy road with 15 year timber on each side and blast from the road into the timber and see if you can get one to walk out.

I've never had success bear calling, but that it what I would do if I did right now.

Hoping to go out tonight to give it another shot.

Also, you eventually get to the point where you put trail cameras in places where you hope even people wont find them.  I've got python locks on all of mine and I bolt them to the tree with a lock box now.  I've had 2 stolen.  The first one hurts the most (along with the unknown about what footage it may have captured that you didn't get to see).  I haven't had one stolen in a while, but in the general bear area I've had two taken.

Who is available tonight to help me pack out when I shoot one?  Willing participants must have a side arm and flash light to track wounded bears if my history is any indication of the future.  No bigger rush than tracking wounded black bears in the dark.  Its like those nightmares where a ghost is around but you can't see it and it wants to get you.

Mine will likely be too big to pack out alone   :chuckle:

I'm down to help anyone that needs a hand as well and will be in the area.  Probably also around the Lake Roesiger area this evening.

If I hear gunshots that sound like bear shots I'll check the thread to see if anyone needs a hand.

With 25 tags total, I"m not sure that more than 5 of us will be out this evening anyway.  Its a heck of a lot of area for that many.  I doubt we'll see each other.

If I see one you'll hear me shoot.  I'm going to keep shooting until I hear the death moan.
