When do we get to see the video? :)

When I get a chance to work on it a little.  Maybe Sunday or early next week, I have class all weekend and am doing assignments for that and I've got a bear to cut up... 8)

Don't get too excited though, if you've ever seen anyone shoot a bear from on top of a clearcut, this is about that exciting...  Its  not super far, it doesn't roll far, and it runs out of the picture behind a hill.  I give it a B- on "Excitement of Hunt".  The part you miss is how excited i was when I walked up on it and realized how big it was!

Just in case anyone is wondering, this was shot with a real camcorder, not a cell phone camera.  DRock is just THAT BAD with a camera.

In any case (don't get too excited, its not that good) here's the 2015 Spring Bear vid...

Also, after weighing everything I think that was about ~250 lb bear live.  Give or take about 20 lbs.  I don't believe he would've hit 300 on any scale.  Not at least until the fall.

Hanging weight, no head, was ~147 or so with my hanging scale, after a few days of dehydrating in the meat cooler.  Not sure what factor you guys use to go from hanging weight to live weight estimates.

I know for Pork we used to say you lost 30% from live to hanging, beef 40% and lamb/sheep 50%.

I went to the work of making the video, now someone has to watch it...  Even though it is hard to make watchable with DRock's shaky hands.

I watched it. A bit shaky. I think D-Rock was getting a little excited at the prospect of you shooting (again) A) A bear bigger than him and B) a bear bigger than his bear(s) combined. Possibly not being able to see over your dash and not spotting if first. I don't know. I'll take a crappy shaky vid over none at all so I guess he was good to have along after all.

Is that what your wife tells you   :dunno: :chuckle:

Good job, love that stang is all giddy and nervous when you guys are waiting to see if he is down...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Prior to this DRock and I were 2/2 in chasing my bears in the dark through thick brush with personal defense weapons in hand and spotting at under 20'.  One was fortunately dead... one wasn't  :yike:

Hence my new approach to bear hunting... shoot until they stop moving and even then don't trust them.  That is why you hear the second shot... :sry: (a miss)
