I know there are other threads on recommended breeders, just want to be specific about good lines for yellow or silver lab pups.  Will be a hunter and family dog, mostly family. Thanks guys, my friend lives in Bonney lake area.

Do not get a silver lab. Do not get dog from WaLabs unless. You get good insurance my girlfriends silver lab has cost about 10 grand in degenerative issues.

Trophy,
I have a friend w 3 silver labs. He has had them for years. Never any issues as far as genetics.  He is a lab guy for over 40 years.
He is going to be breeding them shortly. Let me know if you want his #. He is in Laconner.

No matter what color you get, look for HEALTH CLEARANCES. Hip and Elbow OFA xrays (ask for numbers), Eye examined by a veterinary opthamologist, DNA testing for PRA, EIC , CNM and RD/OSD.

If you are interested in a silver and can find one with health clearances then look into this http://www.vetinfo.com/color-dilution-alopecia-in-dogs.html

Good luck.

OCD in the shoulders and elbows one at a time is what happened to my girl friends silver. Id personally get a black or yellow I've always had labs and I don't consider silvers labs to be labs they act differently.

Breeding for color makes a hot mess in genetics.

You couldn't pay me to take a silver lab. Do some searching around on the subject if this guy is a "friend".

Labs come in three colors. Black, Yellow and Chocolate. Breeders who call the colors anything else are scamming unknowing customers for more money trying to make them think their "color" has more value or is more special than the three(yes 3) colors of labs.

There aren't silver labs, only black, yellow & chocolate.  Happy Gilmore is right, any breeder promoting labs of another color than the recognized three is a scammer. A "silver lab" is probably a yellow lab mixed with something else to get the gene for silver hair.  Your friend won't get what he thinks he's paying for, whatever that is.

A friend of mine got a really exceptional lab from these guys some years ago: http://sunnyviewlabradors.com/

My wife and I got a red lab from Morgan's Pointing Labs. They are up by Addy, WA. We got him as a pup last summer and so far are very happy.

not being negative about your dog at all just what you posted is the clear reason why they are bad. Breeders breed for color not to improve the breed. And, $1,400.

A dog with parents that have no performance titles(which I've seen no silver labs with anything more than a junior hunter) should be around $800 at the very most assuming the parents have hips, eyes and elbows.

Most pointing lab and color lab breeders charge far more than the dog is worth.
