What to shoot a moose with...
« on: June 11, 2015, 11:44:45 AM »
Well the drawing results aren't available quite yet but I'm trying to decide what rifle I should shoot my moose with. Should I make it a challenge and possibly end up with a smaller bull or should I go with something that will drop it instantly at a quarter mile?

My options:

.50 muzzleloader with 250 grain Thor bullet
Pre 64 Win. Model 94 in 30/30
.270 with 140 grain Barnes
30/06 with 180 grain Barnes
338 with 250 grain Nosler Partitions

My vote is the .270....but that is because I am a .270 guy!!!  Next choice would be the muzzleloader.

If I am ever lucky enough to draw a tag I think it would be cool to try to take one with a muzzleloader. I would however have my 338 win mag availble just in case

Shoot it with a .30-.30 right between the eyes because it's probably going to be a cow.

My vote would have to be a flip of the coin between the 30-30, or the .30/06
