? About applying for Wyoming

I applied for a prog horn tag and preferences  point to last season. I was going to buy a 2nd point for this year. My question is do I have to wait until July 1st to purchase? I am having a hard time understanding Wyoming regs. I am also thinking of buying left over tags in units that have good public access. Sorry for wasting your time but it is really hard to understand there regs. I like are regs lol I sure don't get lost there.

Yes you wait until July 1st if you didn't put in for the draw and not draw out.

Good luck with public land access. There's a reason there's lots of leftover tags in certain units. It's mostly private land and pay to play. It can be done, but you might face a lot of competition. I learned this the hard way a few years ago myself as I'm fairly new to the game too. It can be done, but you have a lot of research ahead of you.

Yes you have to wait until July to apply for points. You may not have much luck with leftover tags in areas with much public land. However it is still possible in some units with a GPS and a land ownership chip. I know a taxidermist from Oregon who sets up shop in Wyoming every year for antelope season and has an extensive list of landowners who have reasonable access fees with easy to obtain tags. That would be a good option. He does good antelope taxidermy also by the way, he did my Oregon Juniper antelope.

July through September for WY points only.  Also, yes, there will be leftover tags. They're first come first serve. There is normally several antelope areas that would have public access. Some units you can buy multiple antelope doe tags as well.

That's what I noticed as well.  Between matching dates with the tag my daughter drew and public access, there are slim pickings.  Probably a bunch of people like me that used to hunt MT but got tired of forking over the huge dough for a decreasing shot at a good animal.
