Brewster Sockeye Question

So....From what I am reading in the new fishing regs, the Brewster pool will open July 1st. Is this a typo? Wells dam to 173 bridge opens July 16. I found it strange that from 173 bridge to Chief Joseph Dam opens earlier on July 1st.  Should be a few kings and sockeye in the pool on the 1st, if its true, I may give it a try!

Usually it gets really good the second to third week. I am guessing it should be awesome this year due to the warmer water in the Okanogan. As long as we don't have a huge rain that is👍🏻

Not a typo, same later opener for several years. You can only fish above the Brewster Bridgeport bridge until the 16th. Maybe they are trying to let some fish get up the Methow river or something. Last year I limited on sockeye July 10 and again on the 11th. I am planning to hit it for the opener this year because it appears to me the run is earlier for 2015.

The numbers look good. 2 weeks ago the paper said there has been more fish crossed Bonneville than the last huge year.

Just didn't feel right to go last year when so many folks were losing their homes in Brewster. Good chance my pink boat will be there in the next few weeks.

do you need downriggers to fish this pool?  I would love to give it a try, but m 12 foot livingston doesn't have downriggers.

Not a typo as mentioned earlier. The reason it opens later is to protect the last of the springers heading up the Methow. With the big run they had up the Methow this year and how early it was, I find it ridiculous why that stretch  couldn't be opened on the 1st.

 Riggers certainly make it easy but you don't, run the banana weight (3oz.) set up to a bead then swivel. Then run about six/seven foot of line to a dodger and around 12-15 inches of leader to your smile blade double hook set up. I usually catch the sockeye around 15-19 feet the first few hours of light.

I would love to try out this fishery.  Anyone know this fishery that wouldn't mind a tag along?  I have a good boat for the fishery as well and have lots of time off right now.

I think you should stay home this year too because there is a big fire at Wenatchee.

There is also a rough ramp for smaller boats in the Okanogan river above hwy 97. Depending on water level's that would be an option for smaller boats getting on the fishing that much faster. Downriggers are not necessarily needed, how you're rigging and what you're using makes the biggest difference. Can't wait!!!!!

I am chasing the Skagit Sockeye and the ones in Baker Lake this year.  It takes 3 Brewster sockeye to equal one of the Skagit Sockeye.
