« on: July 30, 2015, 03:16:54 PM »
Anyone here use maple syrup/water to mix seasoning in with meat? I used bacon ends and pieces for the fat. Looking for a maple flavor if'n ya get my drift..

I use water, but like the maple idea to try. Wonder if they make a granular maple sugar to add? I only add a touch of water to help out with the flow, but generally don't like adding any other liquids.

I have... didn't care for it myself. Why should breakfast sausage be sugary/sweet? That's what cinnamon rolls, cereal, orange juice, and darn near everything else at breakfast is for  :twocents:

It's only about the maple flavor.  Just like Jimmy Dean maple flavored.

In the past I've used All American breakfast sausage seasoning and believe it or not put just a touch of jello seasoning in it.    Nothing sugary about either really.

I think we added maple syrup. Is there a way to add maple flavor without all the sugar?

Go easy at first and do what Buzz said.  If using real Maple Syrup, a little goes a long way.

Real Maple syrup..

As a sweetener, real maple syrup provides three times the sweetening power of cane sugar, but with only 52 calories per tablespoon!

Me too and I really didn't like it. I'd rather have the maple syrup on the pancakes/waffles and dip the breakfast sausage in it for the flavor.

 :yeah:

I have made A LOT of sausage and a lot of breakfast sausage and I get all of my pre-mixed sausage spices from Michlitch.  One of my favorite breakfast mixes is the maple flavored.

I've tried multiple maple flavored kits, and just done home made with maple syrup.  All of them were really sweet and not up to par.  So far, our favorite is a sage breakfast sausage mix and then a little syrup dipper on the side, or just mop the plate with it while eating pancakes or waffles, and the sage balances out the sweetness.
