I know when my triggers going to break. Being 6lbs or 8oz, makes no difference to me. I shoot them the same. I do prefer a good trigger but I'll give up nothing in the accuracy department barrel wise due to a trigger when assembling a AR. Then again I haven't shot a factory barrel AR in quite awhile.
I'm not going to say which is most important on my match rifle, its a "system" and I don't skimp on parts....
Barrel first. With twist being a major factorTrigger and bolt next. I like the Rock River two stage and see no need for the other high end triggers. Bolts are very important(to me). They need to be square and made of the proper material.Rest is fluff

You can run a factory XXX brand barrel and just toss a aftermarket trigger in it and your off to dominating/sweeping matches! Sometimes you have to pay to play with the big frogs.

And my bolt's not square at all it's rounded! I've been hustled!!!
Send me that bolt on the right in the photo Yorke, along with the extension to match!

Sometimes you have to pay to play with the big frogs. I am saying that value/dollar spent a quality trigger upgrade is going to deliver more down range than a barrel will. I am saying that a trigger upgrade will do deliver greater benefit/cost to make you competitive than almost any other big dollar modification. When I was a lad the model 52 ruled the smallbore game. It had little or nothing on a model 37 accuracy wise off a bench, but it had the superb micro motion trigger and that is what made it so popular. There were other ways to go and Kenyon made aftermarket triggers that fit Mosbergs, lesser Winchesters & Remingtons as well as the 37, Savages and perhaps others. Outside of the 37, none of these match rifles were as inherently accurate, but with a trigger upgrade they all could and would be competitive. Without a better trigger, only the 37 was really competitive at the higher levels of the game, but they were not nearly as often in the winners circle. What I am going to add is that once a competitor had advanced to that level most shot 52s. But until they had a trigger that could be mastered, and I mean mastered at that level in competition, and had mastered trigger control, a less accurate rifle was not a significant hindrance.

A drunk Girl Scout can assemble a AR and purchase a quality trigger off EBAY in a matter of minutes.
