Spring Bear hunt in AK
« on: January 25, 2009, 06:42:53 PM »
Hey guys here is a guy from AK that started a lodge last year or the year before, don't know him but knew of his name from the site I used to visited, seemed like good people.  Anyhow he is offering a DYI bear hunt, might be good for those that have been interested previously in going for spring hunt @ 1450, the cost and experience would rival anywhere else.  AK Airline should be pretty cheap to Ketchikan...  Anyhow here it is for those that might be interested.

I've done a couple of DIY fall bear hunts on the island, lots of bears and alot of fun. This looks like a pretty good deal.

I have hunted PWI before, frickin cool.  Just stay on the rivers.  You will see bears every day.  Be choosey, you can be.  Watch out for the wooded areas between the roads and the rivers.  That is kind of spooky.  There is bear sign everywhere.  My buddy shot one with a bow from the river.  You will have a great time.  Keep us posted.

The girlfriend and I were just looking at DYI-transporter trips up there, and this looks like one of the better deals.

I tried the website you listed and it was under construction.  I'd like to know what the package includes.

:yeah: I would like to find out more if I could to. What if my wife just wanted to go and stay at the lodge? How much more would that be. We have been trying to find a good hunt that I can go "hunt" on and she can just relax and enjoy the outdoors.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

The site might under construction but it has his phone number and email address,  :dunno: why not email him and ask these very questions.  Like I stated above, I don't know him, only heard of him on a different site and he offered it out over the net there.   I cannot answer these questions, that, you'll have to make your own contact for that information.

I talked to him last year at the sportsmans show in Anchorage.  Good guy and very helpful.  I don't know if he does anything extra special, but he does offer a pretty good deal.

I was going to do a DIY trip with Misty Seas Charters but the plans fell through.  They were very willing to work with you and cater to your personal needs for the hunt.  I was really impressed with them.
