Best advice...figure out where you are going to hunt in the general season...36 points is still very unlikely you will draw Dayton quality rifle tag.

Got four guys poaching a two point and two cows. Left the two point to rot on the hill side

Your chances are better than the rest of us but are still slim. Good luck hope you draw

Sounds like you need someone to apply with?  :chuckle:

Colockum September rifle tag

Tucannon or Dayton would also be good.

I'd guess with that many points you should have pretty good chance of drawing within a couple years. I'm not sure exactly how the point system works but I think they may square them.

One thing to keep in mind is that these quality tags are no gimme for a big bull. People seem to get a perception that there's a big bull behind every tree in these quality units. Be prepared to hunt hard if you want a trophy.

How can you not draw?

Figure you have a 36 times greater chance than the average "assume 6 points guy".  So in a unit with 1000 applicants and 10 tags odds "on average" are 1:100 but your odds are 36 times better than average or 1:3 or basically you should draw this year or next with any luck  :dunno:

If I had 36 points I don't think I'd be applying for Dayton. Maybe, but I think there are better options out there.

36 = 1 x 36
or
36 = 2 X 18
or
36 = 3 X 12
or
36 = 4 X  9
or
36 = 6 X  6

I hope this helps and I wish you luck a going datin.
