that sucks, better now than later..just take good care of yourself after the surgery..I found out yesterday my broken leg isn't healing at all.. I feel your pain..keep your spirits up
Hopefully you get out there next year. I know all too well what it's like. Due to Army life I went 4 years without hunting. I, sort of, finally got to go last year with no scouting time. This is the first year of real hunting in 5 years... can't wait!
P-man...I finally pick up a bow for a full season P for bow hunting and you make up some excuse to not hunt with me? I'm sure I can scrounge up a story or two and drag it out for a week covering 15 to 20 pages of awesomeness. I can make some pep sticks later this year if you're interested (without the fire)

Secondly, when I recover from this thing, I'm going to be the 59 year-old wrecking ball for next season. I will make up for missing a big game season by crushing it completely. Thanks.
I will be setting up camp near Kalama (unless plans change). You are more than welcome to stop by. Just message me as the time gets closer. Hope your surgery goes well!

The hip surgery is scheduled for August 29th. My hunting partner who had the stroke, his wife just had a stroke and his heart hasn't been doing very well. What a mess for those poor guys. And, our business is too busy for me to take late season off (plus I've used up all my vacation for medical issues this year). I'm going to have to live vicariously through all of your stories. This is the first time in almost 50 years I won't be hunting big game and the first time in over 25 years I won't be bow hunting. Wah, wah, wah. Pianoman's whining! Maybe I can come visit someone's camp nearby during early archery. Anyone gonna be hunting near the Couve? Or maybe go coyote shooting in someone's field??? I really gotta kill something or see something dead or eat something wild, afterall!

Ya see...the glass is half full.
Come along on a lion hunt later in the winter.... That's the beauty of cat season, it goes into April in some places

Maneel your pain P Man. Over the last three and a half years I'ved both my knees replaced, gallbladder removed, cataract surgery in both eyes (never mind the 3 back surgeries, they were over 10 years ago). This year I bought the Vail Pass and planned on spending some time up in the woods picking mushrooms, scouting, hunting... I also helped a terminally ill friend of mine get set up for a any elk tag up over 410. I was excited to be able to go along on his hunt. And then I had a detached retina 6 weeks ago. No going above 1000 feet elevation, as I had a gas bubble in my eye. After the treatment, everything was good. Then last Thursday, a second and much worse detachment. Emergency surgery, laser treatment, much bigger gas bubble, and keep my face parallel to the ground 24/7 for 8 days. Also, and this is the bad part, no going above 1000 feet elevation for 2 1/2 to 3 months. Going to miss out on my friends hunt, which I was really looking forward to. Hopefully everything heals as it should. I'll at least get to go elk hunting and do late buck.. Sorry, little long winded... Oh yeah, I'm also 59. Must be out of warranty...
