Custom Ammo
« on: September 20, 2016, 10:47:00 AM »
Looking for info on custom reloading companies. I do not do any reloading, and getting tired of spending $$$ trying to find factory ammo that works in my 300wsm. It will be used for hunting from deer to moose.  Any help and opinion's would be great.

Thank You

Find/make a friend that reloads.  You'll probably spend just as much or more on custom ammo as factory.

Copper Creek is one of the best at custom reloads.

I reload and wouldn't mind some elk meat.  I'm in Snohomish.  All I would need is dies for your caliber and the components.

I doubt that going to a custom reloader is gonna do much for ya over factory ammo and it absolutely is gonna cost you a bunch more then buying factory ammo.  What are your issues right now?  Group size?  What rifle do you have.  Very rarely are gun issues related to factory ammo.  Is gun's barrel fouled?  Scope loose or broken?

I know a guy in Sedro Woolley that does custom load work ups for your rifle.

No offense, but I disagree.
Not saying issues aren't caused by the things you mentioned, but if you really want to take your shooting "to the next level", custom/handloaded ammo is one of the necessary steps.

I don't understand this thinking at all. Handloading is absolutly the way to go if you want to get the most out of your rifle.

To the OP, I just tested some ABM Ammo for them and was really impressed with it. It may be a decent option if you can't find a custom reloader to meet your needs.

Here is a link to my testing. http://www.rokslide.com/forums/long-range-hunting/48566-abm-300-win-ammo-review.html

Mods let me know if this isn't ok. Thanks.

He said nothing about getting most out of rifle or taking to next level.  He said something that "works" with out spending a bunch of money which makes me think something else is up. I agree hand loads are going to improve accuracy but it isn't going to take a gun that is messed up and make it shoot dimes.  Been loading for over 25 years so I know the benefits.  But not without a lot of work in making a load that is perfected for the gun. Which is gonna make it expensive if someone else is doing it for you.  Most firearms will shoot 1 to 2 MOA with factory ammo.

My perception is the same as buzz.

OP if your looking to shoot cheaper than custom ammo is not what you want. Once that perfect load is found then it will be a bit cheaper than premium ammo but working up a load can be spendy, some times ya get lucky but often times your down 40-60 rounds working up a load.
If your looking to improve grouping and constancy then custom load will do that.

2moa doesn't "work" for me.
