I dragged a woman muzzleloader hunting that I had only been seeing for a month, through some thick stuff too. We celebrated our 14th anniversary in July.  :-)

I think this is the one I missed little brother! Very similar rack, just much shorter.

I couldn't believe it. I have walked close to 15 miles in the last 2 days and haven't seen squat. This AM, I woke up at 4:30 and decided it sounded too windy and rainy out to sit in my stand (typically in stand set up 30 mins before light, 3 mile hike), so I slept in an hour or so. Headed out to the section of land I hunt with the intention of following this little ridge that pops in and out of three ravines and has some great glassing spots. I had seen some fresh rubs really close to the truck yesterday, so I knew there was a buck in the area.

I honestly hadn't really even started still hunting yet. I was walking slowly and quietly, but not super slow. I had gone about 400 yards and 40 yards to my right I saw him, head down, heading my way. I took a step behind a tree, took a knee, and waited about 5 seconds until he gave me a perfect broadside shot. BOOM! He ran RIGHT at me and dropped about 10 feet away. Couldn't believe it!

This was the first time I did the gutless method...and funny enough, this is the closet I've ever been to my truck. I usually have a buddy help me drag it, not fun. I'm definitely a convert! So much less work than dragging it out.

Problem solved.  No longer depressed about the missed shot.  No more waking up early and sitting in the rain.
No more fun!  :chuckle:
Good job getting it done!

Well there you go!  Way to keep after it!  Patience and persistence.  And early mornings in the rain.

Congratulations on a nice clean harvest and a beautiful buck!  Now you can join most of the rest of us in waiting for next year...

Thanks for all the kind words!

Tenderloin and backstrap were delicious last night!!!

That's awesome Lokidog! This lady passed the test...she asked if she could come over and help me process it and she enjoyed it (at least did a good job faking)

I just told the lady I recently started dating that I can't get together tomorrow...going to be hunting all day. Should be a good test, ha!

So how were the test results?

Unreal, actually! She offered to come over and and help- dove right in helping cut, clean, and seal the meat. Might be worth keeping around...

Congrats, way to get back out there and seal the deal.

cool so a sob story turned good Grats.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter
