stabilizing a 69 grain bullet

Curious what you guys think about shooting a .223 with 69 grain bullets with a twist in 9 barrel. Would a twist in 8 be better? Just curious.

Funny you posted this.  I literally just ran some 75gr Horn BTHP Match out of my 9 twist AR today after work.  A 7 or 8 twist is probably more ideal but if you have a 9 already don't be afraid to push em hard.  They will shoot.  I also shot some in my 14 twist 22-250 and they also shot well.  What you lack in twist, you can counter with speed.

Some of the Sierra load data I was looking at said up to 73 grain BT for the twist in 9. Thanks for the response. We'll see what happens.

What are you looking to slap together?  I'm not a big gas gun guy but there are too many .223 in the stable so one is getting a new grendel upper soon I think.
