P320 - Glock 17
« on: March 20, 2017, 07:09:57 PM »
Looking for a full size 9mm. Does anyone have a solid argument for one over the other?

Magazine cost and other little things, like that I'm not interested in.

From my reading the Accuracy, and reliability, seem pretty much one in the same.

I own a Glock 19. I like the Glock. I know the army has this contract with sig now. Not interested in that discussion either.

Any compelling arguments about the pistols themselves are desired.

Thanks for the input huntwa family.

I have a couple of the p320's been running them since they hit the market. They are great solid well built guns. I have put probably 3k trough mine and never had any hiccups.

The only thing that puts the G17 in your favor over the Sig is that you like the G19. If you shoot it well you will shoot the 17 even better. Same grip angle and feel with a longer sight radius and a less cramped grip. Also you can run your 17 mags in your 19.

Since you have a G19, have you tried a G34?  Stick with the Glock...

If you're interested in sticking with glock this may not matter but FWIW the full size m&p 9mm is a great gun my father in law has one as well as others I know and have heard absolutely nothing but great things.

They also just came out with the m&p 2.0 series although I know nothing about this new line.

A Glock 17 is on my list of guns to buy, Between the 17 and the 19, the 17 feels better in my hand. I have a 45acp Glock and a 10mm Glock & like them both.

You like your 19 so I'd say go with the 17.

The Sig is three times the gun the Glock is.
Only reason to buy Glock is to pair it with a Keltec SUB2K and use the same mags.

I prefer the Glock over the Sig. I own a few Glocks and have been carrying one at work for years so I'm partial.

:) I have owned two Sigs, not very many!! did not like either one, sold them both .40s, but have not tried others. I like the Glock 19, I shoot it better than I do the 17?? :dunno: but I do.
I like my 19 cause I don't care if I bang it, scratch it, beat it, or generally ignore it. have a Glock 43 also. like the 19 better.

 :yeah:

The 320 will make a OK shooter good and a good shooter great. Shoot them side by side and see for yourself. I've got hundreds of thousands of rounds through glocks, HKs and SIG's. Hands down SIG's shoot the best.

Have you shot or handled a P320 or any other Sig?  Coming from a Glock you might find the high bore axis very awkward, for some it's enough to write off Sig.  Personally I can't shoot a Glock for the life of me, but I love the way they feel compared to a Sig.  I can shoot my P226 in double action and easily outshoot a Glock.  I'd say buy whichever one feels best for you, they're both going to be good guns.  Accessories and parts more readily and widely available with the Glock though.

Nice thing about the 320 is only the internals have the serial number. You can swap the guts into any other 320 frame, switching between full size, carry, compact in a matter of seconds. No need to buy new guns, just kits. Also with the 320 when loaded it's not cocked like the glock. Spring tension holds the firing pin forward, not back. I know glock has the drop safety but you never know..

The glock isn't cocked when a round is chambered.  The firing pin is like only "partly cocked".  The trigger has to be pulled in order to fully cock the pin then it's released when the trigger breaks. A glock can't go off unless the trigger is pulled.

Since you already have a 19, I'd stick with the same platform and get the 17. There's an advantage to keeping things the same between guns.
There are some good deals out there on police trade in glocks.
