16 points and I finally drew a tag.    Hope to see a bunch of big boys.   Let's hope we get a little snow. Super stoked!

You mean a whitetail tag right?

I also drew gardner and have hunted it a lot in the last 10 years.  a friend has a cabin 10 miles up the twisp  river.   will hold out for a 26 plus.  we have 20 days to hunt.  my no 1 choice was desert cuz I live 20 miles from it and know it well.  will be driving an old white ram with a deer cart in the back.  best of luck .  mike w

Good luck!  Buddy drew it last year and never filled it.  Hunted for WT for a week.

Fellas,

I've hunted Gardner for quite a while. Hit the Sawtooth Wilderness unless you have private land access. I was hiking the Saw Tooth wildnerss trail during bear season a few years ago and saw upwards of 10 legal bucks up on hillsides. Large and in charge. I'm sure you have your plans but give that wilderness area a thought.

Yup

With that white tail tag you are gonna want to stay in lower elevations. There are some bruiser bucks that go up high but they all tend to hang down low as a general matter. Between Winthrop and Mazama there are a ton of whitetail near the valley floor. If you can find a way to access the national forest and stay near the boarder of private property you'll see animals for sure. You might be able to access national forest via Wolf Creek road. Either way you do it, I would stay within 1000 yards or so of private property.
