Somebody's comment posted on the WDFW's site
« on: February 24, 2009, 10:14:30 PM »
I thought this comment was funny. I've never heard anybody complain about being forced to hunt elk in snow and cold weather.   :chuckle:   Is this guy really serious  :dunno:  Was this somebody from this site ???

Quote
I just do not understand why the West side general elk
season is so late in the year. As most of the hunting is
done in higher elevations we must continually fight
winter weather due to the late season. This not only
presents difficult and unpleasant hunting conditions but
creates a safety issue to the hunters. Snow storms of
great intensity can develop very rapidly in these high
elevations. I have been there during these events and
you literally can face whiteouts and loose the ability to
recognize landmarks. Even without the snow the
inclement weather can make hunting condition almost
unbearable. Oregon normally starts elk season a week
earlier that Washington does. I would recommend this
for us as well or even better the last weekend of
October.

This is the WDFW's response:

Quote
We are continuing a policy of not having an overlap in
our deer and elk seasons, so opening the elk season in
October is not currently feasible.
Weather is very unpredictable in the fall. Conditions as
you described happen periodically, but some hunters
prefer inclement weather for hunting. Our seasons are
timed to accommodate average weather patterns and fit
in between seasons for other species or user groups

My advice would be to kill your elk in the FALL and not worry about it

What a knuckle head. Our hunting group is always praying for snow. He should get into another sport, say synchronized swimming. That's probably why our rules changed, to many different opinions & mine is the only one that matters.  :chuckle: Mike

That is so sad. And he thinks of himself as a hunter. All of us wish for some snow. :bash:

Maybe he would like Starbucks to open a store by where he hunts too. That way if he gets a little cold he can step in and have himself a nice hot cappucino. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

What a dumb ass.

I'd have a fun time if I worked for WDFW responding to comments like this.  But somehow I think Rasbo would have a GREAT time responding.  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Yeah I saw that one too. Amazing what some people come up with to complain about!  Makes for entertaining reading though.   :)
