What do I need to make my truck ride smoother?
« on: July 14, 2017, 03:53:46 PM »
I replaced my shocks, with used newer shocks but that was not working.
So besides shocks  what do I need to do to make my ride smoother?
If its brown knock it down

More info like manufacture and model of truck.  Size of truck.  Tires make a big difference in ride of a truck to.   I had Toyo M55's on my work truck Ford F350 change them to Goodyear Duratracs and big difference in the ride.

Chose Duratracs for my Ram 1500 for the soft ride.  Run em at recommended 39 pounds .

If you aren't hauling drop tire pressures down .

Tires with a softer sidewall. Shocks that are lighter duty.

I keep an 80# sand bag right behind each wheel well. Rides much smoother then

I have an f-250 super duty 7.3 with toyo m55's.  65# in the front 55# in the rear. Never like the way the truck rode till I put Rancho 7000mt shocks  and steering stabilizer on. What a difference, amazing ride now. Its firm tight and oh so smooth.
I'm not sure.

Put 1,000lbs behind the cab. Lol.

Ball joints ever been done? Tie rods? Those HD's eat up front ends, lifted or not. Bilstein/ Rancho shocks are great. But shocks only do so much to dampen the ride.

A purse.  Trucks are not supposed to ride like a car.  :chuckle:

I'd ask what you mean by smoother? Is it too stiff? That seems like it's probably a 2500HD thing. If it's bouncing all over the place or something like that, I'd look at shocks and springs. But changing any of that to make it "softer" will detract from the HD part of it.

:chuckle: How about getting a Dodge instead? Those come with a free purse.  :chuckle:
