Blues vs Ruffs
« on: July 20, 2017, 10:06:27 AM »
Hey guys, like all of us I'm counting down days to opener.  I'm planning a long weekend for grouse and thinking near Republic.  I haven't been out there for grouse yet myself but was near there for Turkey and I got a couple flushes of blues at higher elevations.  I'm expecting to get on some ruffs out there but I'm partial to blues- does anyone know if I'd have a chance at both around this area or should I keep looking for somewhere where I could find both?

There should be plenty of ruffed grouse in that area in the lower elevations along creeks. Also Spruce grouse, so you've got a good chance of taking home all three species.

Thanks, that's good to know.  I've heard there are ruffs, I wasn't sure if I'd find blues.  I'd be stoked to see Spruce though, I've never seen them in the flesh.

We've taken all 3 this year.
The Spruce grouse are plentiful in the wooded areas, it seemed.
Blues up high and lots of Ruff in the lower wetter areas.
Hope you got all 3
