2017 Washington Whitetail Special Permit Hunt
« on: December 01, 2017, 08:44:36 PM »
sns=e

I helped a special permit holder with a whitetail hunt.   The top link is of a buck we didn't connect on. We think it was around 150".  The video is over a mile and I am not a professional video guy.  We put a couple stalks on that day.

I found the deer he harvested with about and hour left of light following some does.  The snow was really coming down.   I figured this deer was a typical 5x5 frame with a kicker but ended up only a 4 on one side with a kicker.  A true Mountain stud,  the taxidermist thinks it's 9.5+ years old. We will find out by sending in a tooth.  It was a great hunt with a successful ending well earned.   Great Job to the Hunter.  The hunter didn't have any daylight pics of the deer.

Stud whitetail. Thanks for sharing.
If you post some pics of the lower jaw bones from multiple angles, you might convince a fella or 2 on here to throw out a pretty accurate age estimate on him.

That’s a dandy buck. That buck in the video is a stud also. The hunter must not have been with you when you were watching him.

The hunter was able to see that other buck in the binos before he went after him.  He had a little excited moment and missed a couple times at close range.   We have all had those days :)   Anybody want to take a guess on that buck score wise?

I’m just looking on my phone so it’s kind of hard to tell for sure on the buck in the video but it looks big. I’d go 170’s on him but i also can’t tell if he has any extras anywhere.

Awesome This time of year is always best.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Absolute beauty!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
