Dealing with backyard poop

I watched a king of the hill episode the other day. Bobby created a contraption using a vacuum to pick up poop. I seriously thought about building one. It looks like it would work.

Whose job is it to clean the nozzle?  Much easier for my son to rinse off the shovel....

I have one of the garbage cans with a lid that opens by stepping down on a pedal. It even has a fancy ring around the top to hold the bag in position. Washing shat up buckets doesn't sound fun. Shovel it, bag it, change the bag every now and then.

I have 3 kids, so I am good for the next 4 years.  Then they will all hopefully be out of the house and I will have to come up with another idea

5 gal bucket with a plastic garbage bag in it and a shovel. With two large labs I need the capacity of the bucket and the scooping size if the shovel. The bag get's tied and into the dumpster after every poo patrol.

I trained our Border to go in a certain part of the yard.
In Oklahoma, it is so dry her poops dry up into hard chunks that I scoop up with a "poop-trowel" and drop it in a plastic grocery bag. They work much better then buying dog poo bags. Totally easy with no stink, unless you catch a steamer.

In Washington I had her trained to go in a 1/2" round rock section that ran a crossed our backyard that was a 5 ft wide x 8 ft deep French drain. Washington is so full of moisture the poops never dry out, every other one smears a on the shovel, and stinks!
My boys got that job.
