I've got a sort of custom rifle paralysis going on where every time I'm about to pull the trigger I change my mind. Light weight mountain, long range tack driver. 6.5x284 no wait 6.5 wsm hmm maybe 28 nosler... no definitely 338 Edge. In the mean time I continue to buy factory rifles which make me wonder if I need one at all, yet at the same time make me want one more than ever ( like the ugly tikka superlight that is 7 1/2 lbs with a 3-18x scope and full magazine and shoots 1/2" ) it's a viscous cycle.

Just do it !
What is that!!!

1100 yard elk rifle - carbon barrel lapua, 7-42 scope, 300 gr Smk rounds with 2000 ft lbs at 1100 yards.  Tested at 902 yards last fall.  Perfect! 10.5 lbs full dress.  Carbon fiber bipod.

338?  I haven't stretched my 340 out that far yet on anything alive, but was thinking about a custom build with 340 in mind, that thing is sweet.

Yep!  Mite look at lapua or norma 338s. Better brass and easier to reload and slightly faster.  Ive got a 340 tho, great elk rifle.

Yeah, no doubt about that, but i'm kind of a weatherby rat. I do however load all of my weatherby's with Norma Brass, and i'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks they are difficult to load for, yet i'm not sure why.

Apparently my build has eaten it's first rounds like a champ. Got this in the email this afternoon. Like always I'm hating  ;) Travis because he juuuust gives you enough to get excited about then goes quiet. For a info and update junky like myself it is killing me! Custom build problems. I suppose I shant complain as he is about a month ahead of schedule.  :chuckle:

Glad to see he is finishing up the rifles ahead of mine. I’m in the hurry up and wait mode myself.

I sent my deposit in a few weeks after yours so hopefully I’ll be shooting by June. I went with the 30 Nosler so I’ve been spending my waiting time buying hard to get reloading components and dies... but now I have everything but the gun so the hurry up and wait is starting to wear on me. When I was at his shop looking at his rifles though it is definitely worth the wait.
