A Pierce County deputy has died after being shot responding to a robbery call near Frederickson, Washington, the Sheriff's Department confirmed.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the deputy was shot just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday while responding to a 911 call for an intruder reported in a house on 200th Street East. After arriving at the scene, the deputy began to pursue a suspect on foot and shots were fired at the deputy, striking him. The deputy was transported to a hospital in Tacoma where he died.
Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor identified the officer as 33-year-old Daniel McCartney of Yelm. Deputy McCartney served the department for three years and leaves behind a wife and three young boys.

RIP officer. I'm so sad for the wife and three young boys this morning. It must be unbearable for them.

Hate to learn of this, vastly prefer hearing about perforated bad guys and the thin blue line going home to their families.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
