Back around '90 a buddy of mine loaded up his Kayak, slid it into the water from his back yard in Silverdale and paddled from there up through the inside passage to Alaska. :o

If only I had enough time off (I don't)... I've got enough Alaska miles it'd only cost me $6 for the flight in to Ketchikan!
Someone oughta pounce on this opportunity. They're so rare.

Love that route!!  I've done it several times mostly in 36' charter boats but did skipper a 148' salvage barge for Ketchikan to Olympia.  If I didn't have to work I would do it in a heartbeat!

good thing you didn't take me, as I'd already be begging to drop a line  :chuckle:

KFhunter: "can we fish yet?"

Skillet:  "no, we're just getting underway and haven't even got out of the bay yet!"

20 minutes later...

KFhunter: "can we fish yet?"

Skillet:  "after we get some distance in I might know a spot to drop a line"

20 minutes later....

KFhunter: "are we close to that spot? can we fish yet?"

Skillet:  "  >:(   I can see this is going to be a looong trip"

Safe travels.

@KFhunter, haha, ya, no fishing until I get to ketchikan.  250 nautical miles to go, and I'm under the gun to make some tides to get through a couple of passes.   Couldn't go outside, it is tore up out there.  Was blowing SE 40 with 17' last night.  Bashing into that is not my idea of fun.

Safe travels.
Thanks man, looking forward to this trip.

Was this for the R2AK? I have a friend that attempted last time and is building a boat to do it this year.
