I may try and can some when I get time. I still have never had canned game meat other than salmon.

Bone, what poundage and broadhead would you recommend for moose with a longbow? The hybrid I hunt with currently is only 63# and I shoot Bear Razorheads which I don't think I would use on a moose I don't think. I sure love killing elk and deer with that set up though.

Awesome moose, and even better story behind it. To have history with that bull and end up taking him, what a great memory. Congratulations to the hunter and you..

Its keeping my dreams alive too! Especially hearing about how our moose population is doing. I'm sure there was a lot of luck on our side for this one. It feels like there should of been a lot of moose to go through before we found the one we were looking for but I guess not. It is kind of a hard spot to hunt and they seem to be pretty shy of road systems except for the bull I almost hit a week ago in my Samurai! Yeah that would of been a disaster!

Wow.  Please thank him for letting you post, great bull.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Oh I believe it! I have seen bigger and actually in the exact spot we shot this one but it was a couple years ago and we have not seen him since so figured he was dead or gone or he would of been our target. Not a doubt in my mind he would of been around the 200" range. I got to watch him at 40 yards. I also know of a bull that was targeted by a guy this year that is in that realm as well. I have not heard if he got him or not. Just have to be out there and be persistent.

It is nice there are so many cut on contact heavy broadheads available these days.  I would feel comfortable with an arrow in the 500-600 range with a solid CTC two blade, and good arrow flight.  Basically, the same set-up I shoot for deer and elk out of my 62# longbow.

Thank you for all the photos and story.  That is an amazing animal.  Congrats to the hunter.
