454 for modern firearm?
« on: November 16, 2018, 09:48:39 PM »
To save the story- I had a ridiculous horrible week for several personal reasons, one of them being my east side whitetail rut hunt got cancelled by my partner. I can’t justity driving 6 hours in my sedan to hunt by myself for the one day I have left to hunt (tomorrow) and drive the 6 hours back to be back at work in Sunday.
Needless to say I’m very upset and not that anyone on here would care, a lot of personal stuff going on too and it’s the reason I’m asking for help.
ANYWHO-
I’m looking into the forested areas - east and west of highway 18 near I-90. I’ve read through all the old threads and came to 0 conclusions. You can hunt but not a gun, you can hunt, with a gun, you can’t hunt at all and many other things I read.

If anyone on here knows any areas where I can legally hunt with my .308 it would be extremely appreciated. (In 454)

I don’t want a honey hole, and I’m not asking if there’s even any deer there. I just want to get out and try one more day to say I did and to be out there in general

If anyone has any info that can help. Please PM me.
Sorry for the whiny rant. I’m done now.
Thanks

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me -Phillipians 4:13

East side of 18 behind the yellow gate is ok for firearms (plenty of trucks parked there so you cant miss it).
The West side of 18 is firearm restricted.

Unit 454 is firearm restricted. You can use shotgun, muzzleloader, archery, revolvers, and semiautomatic pistols that are a minimum of 10mm caliber. Centerfire is not allowed.

You’re likely to come across hikers, bikers, unleashed dogs, mushroom pickers as well as some hunters.

There are areas that are open to centerfire high power rifles.

I was going to suggest just going to 460, but he's hunting today, not tomorrow, so it really doesn't matter anymore.  :twocents:

And here I though that side of 18 was unit 460. Thanks for the correction. That explains why there’s normally a bunch of trucks parked there.

Lots of vehicle break ins in that area. Just a heads up.

460 isn’t open to late modern
