From what I’ve read muskrat go through cycles w with the population just like rabbits.  They eat them selves out of house and home and end up with a huge die off. Then they rebound and the population gets huge. Then they eat them selves out of house and home again. I can’t remember how long the cycle was though
https://www.howlforwildlife.org/take_action  It takes 10 seconds and it’s free. To easy to make an excuse not to make your voice heard!!!!!!

The commission shall attempt to maximize the public recreational game fishing and hunting opportunities of all citizens, including juvenile, disabled, and senior citizens.

Pond muskrats seem more vulnerable to that than running water rats
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Nice job. Great pictures of the mink. Every time I get close to one in a cage they squeal like crazy. Last year we saw a pond in eastern Washington that had at least a dozen muskrats siting around easting grass everytime we passed by. rarely see them here unless at night.

Even with a single wide in bigger water it is easy to funnel the rats into the trap. Crazy how oily these little buggers are.
