Selected! Peaches Ridge Quality Bull!
« on: June 21, 2019, 10:51:38 AM »
I was fortunate enough to draw one of the ten peaches ridge archery tags. Man I’m pumped! I just wanted to thank all of you hunt wa members. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge for me over the years. I was born and raised in the Seattle area so hunting wasn't the most popular subject... my family didn’t even camp let alone hunt. But hunting has always intrigued me. I remember flipping through the pages of old cabelas catalogs when I was a kid, loving every minute of it.  Fast forward to 2013 after watching Steven Rinella’s shows I decided to try hunting for the first time.  I choose archery.  I was lucky and got a small 3 point muley my first year. I thought hunting was easy   the following years I was hit with reality. Hunting is hard. Very hard. But to say that I’m obsessed is an understatement. I’ve been fortunate enough to harvest 2 small bucks a doe and a cow elk with my bow  I would love to add a Bull ! Now I need to get in shape. I bought running shoes the day after the draw. I’ve been running and hitting the gym. I want to give this tag the justice that it deserves. Thanks again guys and gals.

Good luck! It’s a tough tag. Enjoy the experience and hopefully you’ll put one down

Thanks!  Now I need to make some time to do some scouting. See what I’m up against.

What a year to draw!!!! I've been saying all along that as crappy as it was that tag numbers got cut, whoever draws will be in for something real special. I'm officially jealous. Lunges and squats are your friend when it comes time to pack elk. Wish I could have that tag again.

I also think it is a great year to draw.  Permits are way down so pressure should be as well.  I know numbers are down but I am hopeful for you that they aren't as bad as the permit quotas suggest.

Looking forward to the story.  Even if you don't fill the tag please let us know how it goes.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

If the burn has new grass it will be epic.  It may be too early, but that is the first thing I would check.

I can’t imagine being on a knob looking into that huge burn when it is full of feed.

Good luck!

I checked Washington trails association a guy hiked the Norse peak area a couple days ago and said lots of growth in the burn.  I think it’s going to be a good year. I will defiantly let you guys know the outcome tag in hand or not.

Elk are dumb. The more pressing matter is that buck in your avatar! What's the scoop on that guy!

Ha ha. So I said my family didn’t hunt. that’s not entirely true.  My grandpa went hunting exactly one time back in the seventies. He shot that monster near Leavenworth. He never hunted again. When I showed him my first buck he said “where’s the rest of him”. Times have changed a bit grandpa. He gave me the rack when I got into hunting.  Pretty sure I’ll never get a buck that can hold a candle to that guy.

A 300” bull is a great benchmark for that unit during archery. Def some bigger ones, but that’s a great number to hit.

I sure enjoyed my muzzy tag last year.  Filter out the noise about numbers being down and give it your all.  Trust me, plenty of bulls carried over from last year.  Guaranteed

Numbers aren't down, feed is off the charts and antler growth shows it :twocents:
