The build process is a hobby in itself.

Looks great!  Get a 100 rounds thru her to let the speed settle down then start load development!

Took the 6.5 PRC out for its first range day. A break in of 3-clean-3-clean then 5. I used the break in to zero the gun. I Then conducted a ladder test Shooting one shot each .1 grain of powder 58.0-59.3 for a total of 14rds. I let it cool down after each three rounds. The reaults were shocking. Usually you would have an extreme spread of several inches. These all stayed within 1.5”. I had to have someone use a spotting scope with a phone skope and video at slow motion to spot some of these impacts.

Wound up with a range of 58.5-58.7I got home and loaded up three rounds each of 58.5/58.6/58.7. I am going back out tomorrow and hopefully one of these will be my load.

In the below pictures, the shots i’m working with are 6-8, which are at 6’oclock on the 1” sticky.

Looks like any one of those should work.   #9 a flier?
Thought about trying them at 300 yards?

No, #9 just didn’t fly like 6-8. It was the load (58.8) that performed differently. I thought 11-13 was gonna be another node, but then #13 didn’t perform.

Load development done, and I couldn’t have ask for more. 58.7grns of Retumbo and 143grn Hornady eld-x. One more day at the range for a confidence shoot before Wyoming antelope next week. Finally, my 9mo project is complete.

Ya, now I have to do my part in the field and not screw up. Last year-in Montana- I forgot to dial my elevation as I took several shots at my buck at 510yds. Luckily he was tending a doe and stuck around long enough for me to realize it🤦🏻‍♂️  And to add to the FUBAR situation, my son realized my windage dial had also moved to 5moa while in the truck. It’s a miracle I even shot that buck.
