Pretty sad when my odds of drawing a non resident new mexico elk tag is higher than my odds of drawing a eastside Washington tag.

In a matter of just the last two or so years the East side elk have been reduced by more than half and its only going to get worse. Hardly any to no calf survival for reasons we can all argue about for days. We had 5 Quality bull tags in 2006 in Dayton and then again I drew the tag this last year with 13 points. The difference between the elk numbers of 2006 and 2019 were night and day. Saw 40-50 cows after hunting a week and a half of hitting it hard hunting the entire unit and not one had a calf with it. Big bulls will just about be totally gone in the Dayton area in 2-6 years from now. Spike hunting will be awful this next year up there with no calf survival last year.
