Quote from: Fatherof5 on September 02, 2020, 08:51:43 AMMy oldest and I went out last night after work. Had a doe come in and my son missed. ( His first year bow hunting.)That's a great experience though. I remember my first misses well and they definitely taught me a lot about the what to do in the final moments. I still have a hard time controlling my heart rate/breathing sometimes.
I got winded by the biggest buck I’ve Ever personally seen, :bash:6-8 points and wider than his ears. Saw him coming up the hill right at me but didn’t know he was walking in a depression, so I couldn’t see him as he approached. I thought he was still toward the bottom of the hill about 50+ yards away when all of a sudden I hear a crash 10 yards away as he catches my wind and takes off..... very disheartening, this is my 2nd year bow hunting and 3rd year hunting over all. Now that’s it’s been a few hours I’m trying to just trying to recap the events and see what I could have done differently and learn from that instead of being upset about it.It does make me feel good to know I’ve got a monster moving around my property, doubt I’ll see him again but hopefully I meet up with some of his dumber family memebers tonight.

If possible, learn prevailing wind/currents etc. and pick stands accordingly.
Somebody shot a deer in mazama, my old man found it bloated out behind his place this afternoon. 3 pt buck. For some strange reason his camera had all the pictures deleted from it. All on private property. Bummer.
Sons opening evening buck.
Great job to all you successful hunters so far!
Here is mine from the opener. Feels great to fill a tag on a buck after a 10 year drought. I couldn't be happier! I shot him at about 7 yards quartering towards me, complete pass through, he ran no more than 50 yards. Thanks mburrows for all the help.
Here’s mine. Buddy got his in the AM I got this guy yesterday evening. My buddy let me use an iron will broadhead, pretty impressive. Quartering to, hit the first rib, exit the abdomen and went through the rear quarter muscle then lodged into a tree
