First post said he can't sell them, seems like a guy just trying to give some stuff away. :dunno:
Yup, I just wasn't sure if a guy could mount his own migratory birds without a permit, as I didn't see that in the rules.

Seems a none issue though now

I have alot of mounts that I did mostly and can't sell them because they are waterfowl, what can I do with them? Moving and dont' want to take big/bulky/fragile stuff

Could you post pictures? There has to be a store, or other business that would like a free mount or two, and I personally would be interested to look at them. PM if you wish. Thanks

Depending on what they are the Washington Waterfowlers Association might be able tonuse them they have a mobil display case they take on the road.

The law states that non edible portions of game animals and game birds may be sold or traded. With exceptions. In this case would he not be able to sell because he did a mount himself and does not have a taxidermist license? Or in general wouldn't be able to sell a bird mount. Because I see people selling mounts all the time.

Because its federal... i belive the Migratory bird act. If you read the book Operation Cody he busted a guy doing Taxi work and selling waterfowl.

It's a Federal Law.  Falls under the Lacey Act.  Can't barter, buy, sell or trade any wild migratory birds or bird parts.  Wild bird mounts have to be gifted or tossed essentially.

That makes sense. Wish the hunting regulations would state that. Funny how many duck mounts I've seen for sale online as well as antique shops and such. Assuming its ok for upland birds and turkey?

You can sell pheasant, turkey and other upland birds.  Just not migratory.  Sucks for taxidermists as well.  If they do a migratory bird mount and the customer skips out on them, they have no way to recover their material cost and time on them.  One of those laws that was put in place back in the 30’s to shut down market hunters.

:yeah: Did he even say anything about selling them? I though it said “I can’t sell them because they are waterfowl”? Sounds like he is just trying to get rid of them the right way and not waste them
