Fatty trout

caught this thing saturday in the pouring rain within the first 35yds of trolling.  Never seen anything like it.  Must of been on roids or something.

there werent any eggs in it when i gutted it.  Just a bunch of nasty liquid came gushing out of it.  it was gross.  the guts didn't look very good either.  I normally throw trout back but my dad wanted to smoke it.  I think he should use it for crab bait.  The only trout i keep nowadays are the sea-run blueback that run up the Kah.  they are a blast to catch.

That looks like a triploid trout. Hybrid trout that only eat and don't spawn. They usually taste very good, at least the ones I catch at Rufus Wood do. They have an extremely high fat content.

i thought about that but his fins are in real good shape and he has an adipose fin, which doesn't mean much i guess. could be a holdover triploid. trip's fins get beat up when they are in net pens or hatchery ponds.
