HB 1705 would prohibit the manufacture, assembly, sale, transfer, purchase, possession, transport, and receipt of untraceable firearms, receivers, and frames. The bill has already passed the House and is now in the Senate. Under the bill:

The definition of "untraceable firearm" is revised to mean any firearm manufactured after July 1, 2019, that is not an antique firearm and that cannot be traced by law enforcement by means of a serial number affixed to the firearm by a federal firearms manufacturer, federal firearms importer, or federal firearms dealer in compliance with all federal laws and regulations.

After June 30, 2022, manufacturing, causing to be manufactured, assembling, causing to be assembled, selling, offering to sell, transferring, or purchasing an untraceable firearm is prohibited.

After March 10, 2023, knowingly or recklessly possessing, transporting, or receiving an untraceable firearm is prohibited, with exceptions for law enforcement agencies and federally licensed firearms importers, manufacturers, and dealers.

After June 30, 2022, selling, offering to sell, transferring, or purchasing an unfinished frame or receiver is prohibited, with exceptions for purchases by federally licensed firearms importers, manufacturers, or dealers.

After March 10, 2023, knowingly or recklessly possessing, transporting, or receiving an unfinished frame or receiver is prohibited, with exceptions for law enforcement agencies and federally licensed firearms importers, manufacturers, or dealers.

The first violation is an infraction (ticket), the second violation is a misdemeanor, third violation is a gross misdemeanor.  However, possessing three or more untraceable firearms/receivers/frames at one time is gross misdemeanor.

Way to play devil's advocate, haven't thought about it that way. You give the D's an inch and they'll take a mile -- gun companies know that too and I'd hope they wouldn't dabble in this territory.

I can say the same thing about your thinking. Gotta be pretty naive/silly/mind numbed to think if a company that invested millions of dollars into a platform and watched sales  and ROI drop that they wouldn’t do what they can to bring those sales back. Gotta be pretty ignorant to think it’s only the left that plays dirty games to improve financial gain.

This might be implemented by the far left Demos because they are afraid these firearms might be used against them if the get gun banned.  They are so paranoid and scared that they might start a revolution that they are avoiding,  they just want everyone “warm and fuzzy”  while they take away our toys. They want everyone to think that they are righteous and right, while they blind you so you cannot see the truth.  Just the opposite of someone from about 90 years ago.

When guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns!
The same with ammo!
The same with personal liberties

Probably has something to do with Bidens ATF national data base. Gotta know where all the guns are.
Yup, it’s working well in UK, Australia, Canada, Russia, and China  :chuckle:

This bill is missing the mark of the goal, as most bills for gun restriction do.

Untraceable firearms have been around for a long time, in different forms. The recent surge in popularity of untraceable firearms is being corelated to an increase in gun violence, while I believe the surge in homemade firearms is due to fear that the government will attempt to forcefully disarm the people. Serializing our homemade firearms is so the government can track who has guns, not so they can address the issue of gun violence. It will not stop someone who has a history of crime or has malevolent intent from obtaining a weapon.

This is how you stoke the fire of revolution.

Anyone who's not in a liberal thought coma knows that the rise in crime is due to 1. the decrease in police on the streets due to mandates, disrespect, increased danger of violence, 2. the passage of laws which hamstring police and add liability, 3. the catch-and-release system of liberal prosecutors with regards to felonious criminals (as long as they're anarchists or Marxists or homeless), and 4. the tolerance of open narcotic use in our streets. I sure hope the red wave helps us here in WA this Fall. Our legislature is completely out of touch with reality.

I don't really think they crafted the bill, but I don't think they are opposing or using their lobbyists to tweak the bill either.  Kind of in the same sense, that there didn't seem to be much manufacturer opposition to previous WA background checks...their products could still be sold, purchasers had the extra hoops.
If you're right, though, there would be some battles coming for reloaders.

Bullseye! Love the description of being in a "liberal thought coma"  :chuckle:
