Well, this is interesting.  My group had such bad luck at trying to draw a regular tag, that MT had to rub our noses in it even more.  Out of 2,704 alternates, we hold #2133, 2161, 2573 and 2659.

Not looking good for MT this year.

Anyone get into the "top 500" list??????

Good luck to anyone who does pick up an alternate tag!

Curious if you all signed up for the tag late in the sign up period?

With the current state of the economy and gas prices most notably I would not be surprised if they get 500-700 deep into the list this year for elk combo and 300+ for deer combo and big game combo.

Number 618 out of 2704. I probably won’t get very early notice but I should have a decent chance of getting a tag

And another one in our party that got just under 800. Waiting on the third guy hopefully he got a decent number and we can try to start making plans for late November

1257 of 1394 for elk. Not a lot of love for WA here so far
When the buffalo are gone we will hunt mice, for we are hunters and we want our freedom-Sitting Bull

Last year I drew #90 for the deer combo and did not get contacted until the 3rd week in August.  I was on a back pack bear hunt at the time and when I came out of the woods I only had 4 of my 10 days left to buy the tag.

Good luck.

#246 for big game combo.  probably low enough to get the call, but probably too high to make plans around it.

If I remember right, I signed us all up in the first couple of days.  Was looking for the reverse of what you are asking.  LOL  That thought didn't work very good either.  Oh well, thank God for OR and ID for some other tags to hunt, not sure that we would have been able to swing a MT deer hunt in early November anyways.

supposedly it doesnt matter when you sign up since they randomize the numbers... I was 154 last year but they accidentally published the numbers in order of sign up and after randomization I was 1900 or so... always next year

thank for the support.   I was looking at last few years, and it looks like they take about 350 to 500 each year.  That is if i am following correctly.
