Great hunt, glad you enjoyed your time in the Desert. Sagebrush, Russian olive trees, basalt and sand. I love it.
You mentioned it, and every year when there is a writeup of someones Desert unit hunt, it cant be overstated, do not stand up and silhouette yourself against the horizon. Goes for the neighboring units too during the late archery season. Its like making your way through a series of trenches, every once in a while you slowly poke your head up and look around.

How do you measure trying, you do, or you don’t.

Great job, and great buck. You very much captured Desert hunting. You brought me right back to the Coues hunts I have done in AZ, having then appear and vanish in a single step.
