Cool skull mount from my Muzzy Bear
« on: March 03, 2024, 08:42:57 AM »
I picked up my euro bear from Joel at Blackriver. I think this is a pretty cool way to display one. This was my first bear and taken with my muzzle loader.

That turned out Awesome. I may do the same with a bear taken with my muzzleloader that I couldn’t find for 11 hours. The hide is taking up space in my freezer and It’s a shame because it was a nice blondish color but I have a bad feeling when I thaw the hide out the hair will slip. I tried fleshing as much of the green slime that had already started to form before freezing but i don’t have high hopes. He was bloating and the meat on the ground side had already spoiled by the time I found him in the hawthorn thicket. Glad I have a plan b now

Very nice display for sure. Congrats on the harvest. Harvesting a bear with a muzzleloader is a very cool experience. I did my first bear muzzy harvest last year too. Very fun to do something a little different in harvesting an animal. As well as for a mount. Think you did a great choice with the display. Taxidermist did a great job.

What did you do with the other two claws?

What did you do with the other two claws?

Good eye, one was damaged/broken and unusable, so to keep it proportional he held two out. I may try to work them into a hatband

I really like the shape of the display plaque - the square or rectangle mounting boards just don't seem to look right to me with a euro mount.
