Stihl parts availability?

I've had my MS362 in the shop for 11 weeks waiting for a carburetor. Dealer has no idea when they will get it.  Is this the new norm?  Afraid to bring my old backup in for service.

Should be able to get one the same day at a solid saw shop.

Quick search turned up many stihl and walbaro which may be the oem carb. I would go somewhere else. Can it just be rebuilt?

As others have stated, go online to buy one. You can change it yourself easily with a you tube video, mine was only 2 bolts. The dealer told me my saw was too old to order carb parts for,  so I looked online myself and got them shipped in about 2 days.

A 390 is a homeowner saw, a 362 is a magnesium case pro grade saw.  They started putting "MS" in front of all their chainsaw model numbers over 20 years ago at this point.

That long of a lead time on a carb sounds like either some sort of weird supply chain problem or the shop is giving you the run around.  That saw has been in production since about 2010 or 2011 so I wouldn't think availability would be a concern.  Usually a critical part like that is a next day sort of item, since Stihl's regional warehouse that supplies the dealers in this area is in Chehalis.

Where are you local to? If you're in the SW region of WA, try Madsen's Saw Shop.  They work on loggers saws and I have bought many parts for my Stihl chainsaws over the years from them.  They have lots of tips and tricks of tuning saws on their website as well.

   Thank you.  Madson didn't have one and the confirmed my dealer's story of backorders from Stihl.  Don't know when you are going to get a BO until day it ships.  They referred me to 'Service Saw'  who had one and will ship to my dealer.  So I set tight for a few days before heading east.
